Women's Tennis Beats SVSU In Opener

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team pulled out a 5-4 win in its 2011-12 season opener over Saginaw Valley State on Friday (Sept. 2) afternoon in University Center, Mich.

The Cardinals won two of the three doubles flights before Ferris State responded by winning four of the six singles positions to notch the win.

Ferris State's singles wins came at the numbers one, four, five and six spots in the lineup while the lone FSU team to win in doubles competition came at the second flight.

Senior Natalie Diorio was a double winner for the Bulldogs.

All four of Ferris State's singles triumphs came in straight-sets.

The Bulldogs return to action by hosting Findlay on Thursday, Sept. 8, in a 3 p.m. (ET) match at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.
