Big Rapids, Mich. - Two Ferris State University women's tennis players recently received All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) accolades for the 2011 fall campaign as announced by the league office.

The postseason awards were voted on by the conference's respective head coaches.

Bulldog sophomore Ana Jan (Nazor, Croatia/5 Gimnazija Vladimir) was one of nine first team All-GLIAC selections for the 2011 season.  The 5-6 Jan recorded a 7-5 overall singles mark at the number one flight this fall in her first season of competition with FSU.  She also paired with senior Melissa Flowers to win five matches at the top doubles spot.

Junior Tabitha Simpson (Copley, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary's) was among 13 honorable mention honorees.  Simpson competed at the number two singles position for the Bulldogs and won five matches, including four in league play.  She teamed up with senior Natalie Diorio to register a 7-7 record in doubles play this fall with the duo posting five league victories.

Wayne State senior Kristina Goranskaya was named the 2011 GLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year by the league's head coaches in all-conference balloting.  The coaches named Northwood's Susana Alcaraz the league's Freshman of the Year while Zane Colestock, head coach of the Northwood team, earned GLIAC Coach of the Year honors.

Ferris State posted a 10-5 overall record during the fall season and finished 8-4 in conference play.  The Bulldogs finished fifth overall at the 2011 GLIAC Tournament (Oct. 21-23) in Midland, Mich.

FSU is tentatively slated to open the spring campaign on Feb. 23 at home against Davenport with match time set for 5:30 p.m. (ET) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.
