Women's Tennis Wins Fourth-Straight Match
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad claimed its fourth-straight victory with a 6-3 triumph over Hope College on Friday (March 2) afternoon inside the FSU Racquet & Fitness Center in Big Rapids.
The host Bulldogs won for the second time this spring in as many appearances by taking two of the three doubles flights and four of the six singles positions.
The Bulldogs finished the 2011 fall season with back-to-back wins in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament before topping Davenport last week (Feb. 23) to make Friday's victory its fourth in a row.
FSU improved to 12-5 overall this campaign with the victory and it lifted Ferris State to its seventh home win in nine contests at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center this season.
The Bulldogs won both of the top two doubles positions by identical 8-4 scores. Three of FSU's four singles wins came in straight-sets.
The Flying Dutchmen managed to claim the third doubles flight along with posting wins at numbers four and six singles.
FSU will play four matches next week on the road over the spring break period in Missouri and Indiana. The Bulldogs open the trip by facing Rockhurst (Mo.) in a neutral site non-league tilt on Sunday (March 4) in St. Louis, Mo.
