Women's Tennis Opens Road Trip With Narrow Win In GLIAC Action
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team resumed Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action on Friday (Oct. 11) and came away with a close 5-4 road win over Ohio Dominican at Panther Courts in Columbus, Ohio.
The Bulldogs took the second and third doubles flights to build a 2-1 edge heading into singles play and then split the six singles spots to clinch the win.
Ferris State took advantage of a depleted ODU lineup as the Bulldogs received default wins at third doubles and the number six singles spot.
On the court, FSU's Gabrielle Demchenko and Julie Fusik were 8-4 winners at second doubles while senior Ana Jan pulled out a straight-set victory at number one singles and Laurence LeBlanc was a three-set winner in second singles.
Ferris State improved to 7-4 overall and in the GLIAC with the win.
The Bulldogs continue a three-match weekend road trip to Ohio with a match on Saturday (Oct. 12) morning at Ashland, which is slated for a 10 a.m. (ET) start. The Bulldogs then travel to Tiffin on Sunday (Oct. 13) with match time set for 9 a.m. (ET).
