Two Ferris State Women's Tennis Players Claim All-GLIAC Laurels

Big Rapids, Mich. - Two members of the Ferris State University women's tennis team were recently honored as All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selections for the 2013 season in an announcement made by the league office.

Senior Ana Jan attained All-GLIAC Second Team laurels with freshman Gabby Demchenko picking up honorable mention all-league accolades in voting conducted by the league's member head coaches.

This fall, Jan picked up six victories at the conference's number one singles flight, including five victories in her final 10 league regular-season matches. She also had three wins in league doubles action for the Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Demchenko also posted six wins overall in GLIAC doubles competition and nine victories in doubles play, incluidng a 5-4 mark at the number two flight and a perfect 4-0 mark at third doubles.

Ferris State ended the fall 2013 campaign on a high note as the Bulldogs swept Ashland 5-0 in the seventh-place match at the GLIAC Tournament in Midland. FSU wrapped up the fall season with an 8-9 overall record.

Ferris State is tentatively slated to open its spring season at home against Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Feb. 15 at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.
