Big Rapids, Mich. - Senior Olga Martinsone (Riga, Latvia) reaped the rewards for her efforts in her final campaign as she was named this week as the 2015-16 Division II Women's Tennis Most Improved Player Award recipient for the Midwest Region.

The award was announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in conjunction with the NCAA Division II Tennis Championships in Denver this week.

Martinsone, a senior from Latvia, helped the Bulldog women finish the 2015-16 season with a 15-9 overall record, including an 8-3 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.

In her final campaign with the Bulldogs, Martinsone moved up to as high as the number two singles position in the FSU lineup during the spring and also competed at the top doubles spot for Ferris State at the end of the year.

Her efforts this past season enabled the Bulldogs to place tied for third during GLIAC regular season play in the fall under head coach Chad Berryhill.

Martinsone was a three-year letterwinner in the Bulldog lineup. She was an All-GLIAC honorable mention selection this past year for Ferris State.
