Ferris State's Nika Hein & Silvia Verebes Garner All-GLIAC Tennis Accolades

Big Rapids, Mich. - Two members of the Ferris State University women's tennis squad were honored this past weekend as All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) selections for the 2017 fall campaign.

The league awards were announced in conjunction with the Bulldogs' appearance in the GLIAC Tournament held in Midland, Mich.

FSU junior standout Nika Hein (Nittel, Germany) garnered All-GLIAC Second Team honors in voting by the league's member head coaches while sophomore Silvia Verebes (Windsor, Ontario) was an honorable mention all-conference choice.

This year marks the second time in her career in which Hein has claimed All-GLIAC accolades while Verebes received recognition for the first time.

The Bulldogs wrapped up their fall season with a shutout victory on Sunday (Oct. 29) on the final day of the 2017 GLIAC Tournament held at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

The seventh-seeded Bulldogs swept eighth-seeded Ashland 5-0 in the seventh-place match at the league tourney to close the weekend with a 1-2 mark.

The Bulldogs will resume action in the spring a non-league schedule prior to selections are made for the NCAA Regional Tournament to be contested in May.
