Ferris State Runs Into One Of Nation's Top Teams In Decision At #3 Saint Leo

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad ran into one of the country's top teams on Tuesday (March 12) as FSU suffered a 7-0 setback to nationally third-ranked Saint Leo (Fla.) at the Saint Leo Tennis Center in Saint Leo, Fla.

Saint Leo, which was guided by Ferris State alum and former Bulldog head coach Chad Berryhill, took the doubles round and won all six singles flights in the triumph.

In doubles action, the Bulldogs' Nicole Meylor and Silvia Verebes played the closest matchup at the number one flight where they fell by a 6-3 score.

FSU's Brittany Lavenant took the number four singles flight to three sets before falling 0-6, 6-3, 4-6 to Madeleine Gauthier. The other five spots in the lineup were all decided in straight-sets.

Ferris State, which is now 10-8 overall this year, had won four-straight matches prior to the setback.

The Bulldogs return to the court on its annual spring break trip as FSU faces Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday (March 14) at 3 p.m. (ET) in Florida before closing out the trip at nationally ninth-ranked Florida Southern on Friday (March 15) in another 3 p.m. (ET) non-league contest.
