Ferris State Women's Tennis Opens GLIAC Tourney Play Friday In Midland

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team will open play in the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Friday (Oct. 25) evening in Midland, Mich.

The three-day event runs thru Sunday (Oct. 27) and will take place at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

FSU will be the fourth overall seed in the eight-team field and face fifth-seeded Northwood in the first round on Friday night at 6:45 p.m. (ET).

The second round of the tournament will be on Saturday (Oct. 26) at 3:45 p.m. (ET) with the final round of play set for Sunday (Oct. 27) starting at 9 a.m. (ET).

Wayne State holds down the top seed heading into the tournament with Grand Valley State listed second and Michigan Tech third.

Ferris State wrapped up regular-season play with a 6-3 overall mark while placing fourth in conference action during the regular-season. The Bulldogs picked up two more conference wins this fall over a year ago and the fourth-place GLIAC finish is the program's best since 2016.

Currently, NU holds a 4-5 overall record going into the GLIAC Tournament and was also 4-5 in league action during the regular-season. The Bulldogs beat the Timberwolves 4-3 in the regular-season back on Sept. 15 in Big Rapids, which marked their first win over NU since 2004, snapping a 22-match streak against Northwood.
