FSU Battles To Finish In Close Regional Setback On Sunday At Tiffin

Big Rapids, Mich. - For the second consecutive day, the Ferris State University women's tennis squad fought to the finish, but suffered a close 4-3 regional road setback at Tiffin on Sunday (Feb. 13) in Tiffin, Ohio.

The Bulldogs dropped the non-league affair at the Lakewood Racquet Club to fall to 1-2 overall this campaign in dual action.

Ferris State started strong and claimed the doubles point by taking two of the three flights with wins at the numbers one and three positions in the lineup.

However, Tiffin bounced back in singles play, earning wins at the two, three, five and six flights to garner the triumph.

The Bulldogs got singles wins from Sophie Daavettila and Brittany Lavenant at the first and fourth positions in the lineup, respectively, as each won in straight sets. But, TU garnered straight-set wins at three other positions and picked up a three-set victory at two singles to help secure the win.

In the doubles round, Daavettila paired up with Sam Stephenson for a 6-3 win at one doubles with Lavenant teaming up with Patricia Martin Gomez to record a 6-4 win at the third flight.

The Bulldogs will next take the court on Friday (Feb. 18) as they host Walsh in regional action back home at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center. Match time is set for 2 p.m. (ET).
