Ferris State Tennis To Hold Special Court Dedication Friday In Honor Of Former Coach Eddie Luck

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University along with the Bulldog men's and women's tennis programs will honor the legacy of a former head coach, the late Eddie Luck, this Friday (April 22) with a special court dedication at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs will be dedicating Court #1 inside the facility in his honor and the event will begin at 12:30 p.m. (ET) prior to FSU's scheduled Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's tennis regular-season finale versus Saginaw Valley State, which starts at 1 p.m.

A fellow former head coach and the creator of the university's Professional Tennis Management program, Scott Schulz, is slated to speak at the dedication along with at least one of Luck's former players. Overall, 20 plus former student-athletes who played for Luck are expected to be in attendance in addition to many tennis industry leaders. A banner reading "Eddie Luck Court" will hang above court #1.

Additionally, Luck will also be remembered this weekend on Saturday evening in conjunction with the school's annual PTM Banquet.

Luck, who passed away late last fall, served as the head women's tennis coach at FSU from 1992-2000, leading the 'Dawgs to an 83-0 GLIAC mark in eight seasons and eight league titles. He was also the men's head coach from 1993-96, posting a 54-19 overall record including 24-2 in the league with two crowns. He also played a large role in guiding PTM students, many who were team members, while they were in the program and entered their careers.

A memorial scholarship was also established in January to honor his legacy and create greater access to education for worthy students. Former team members and PTM friends are collaborating with FSU's University Advancement and Marketing Team to create a scholarship endowment that will be awarded to Bulldog tennis team members who best exhibit the qualities that were most important to him, including selflessness, leadership, work ethic and determination.
