Ferris State Women's Tennis Closes Out Regular-Season With Big Win To Earn League's #2 Seed

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team closed out the regular-season with a 7-0 sweep over Lake Superior State on Saturday (April 20) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center, earning the number two seed overall for the upcoming Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament.

The Bulldogs honored their 2023-24 seniors during the final regular-season match and dominated play in the win over LSSU to close the regular-season with a 12-8 overall record along with a 6-1 league mark.

Ferris State won all three doubles matches for the initial point of the match and came back to take all six singles flights in straight-sets for the victory.

"It was such an awesome day at the Ferris State tennis center," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "It was the perfect day to celebrate our seniors who have meant so much to both our men's and women's programs. We had a great crowd that came out to support both teams and help send the seniors out in style. I know that it was senior day, but I really thought the seniors showed amazing leadership and toughness on the court today.

"A special shout out goes to the women's team who just missed making the conference tournament last season and now this year earns a bye for the first round as the #2 seed," he added.

The GLIAC Tournament will take place Friday thru Sunday, April 26-28, at the Midland Tennis Center. The Bulldogs will be the number two seed and official matchups and information will be announced by the league office soon following the completion of regular-season play for all teams.
