Bulldog Women's Tennis Falls To Wayne State In NCAA Tourney

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad fell to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) rival Wayne State by a 4-0 score in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday (May 10) in Ohio.

The Bulldogs had their season come to an end in the Midwest Regional hosted by Tiffin University in what represented FSU's first NCAA Tourney appearance in three years.

Wayne State took the early lead, winning the first and third doubles flights for the initial point in the match.

In singles play, the Warriors captured the first three completed matches, winning at three, five and six singles to clinch the match. The remaining three matches on the court were tight, but the Warriors won each of the three completed contests in straight-sets.

With the setback, Ferris State closed the year with a 12-10 overall record. FSU also went 6-1 this year in GLIAC regular-season play and earned runner-up honors with the lone blemish coming to the Warriors.

The Bulldogs made their 22nd all-time national tournament berth and the program's first since 2021 along with only the third in the past 13 years.
