Muir Claims All-America Honors In 5K

Big Rapids, Mich. - Senior Tina Muir (St. Albans, U.K.) of the Ferris State University women's indoor track and field team earned All-America honors again with a personal-best performance on Saturday (March 10) evening in the 2012 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Mankato, Minn.

Muir placed third overall in the 5,000 meters with a career-best time of 16:25.42 to pick up All-America honors for the second time in the meet.  Her showing in the 13-runner national field gave the Bulldogs six additional points in the team standings.

Muir previously brought home All-America honors on Friday (March 9) as part of FSU's women's distance medley relay team that placed fourth overall in a time of 11:36.37.  The relay also included juniors Shelby Janutol, Zoey Hohmann and Alyssa Osika along with Muir.

With Muir's showing on Saturday night, the Bulldogs concluded the national championships among the top 20 teams in the country as FSU finished 16th overall with 11 points.

The 2012 NCAA-II Championships were hosted by Minnesota State-Mankato with action held inside the Myers Field House.
