Ferris State Track Teams Set Several Personal Bests In GVSU Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field teams returned to action on Friday (Jan. 17) evening by taking part in the Grand Valley State Classic in Allendale.

The Bulldogs had several top performances in the event, which featured a combination of teams and athletes from across regional institutions.

Ferris State also had a number of student-athletes record new personal bests in the event.

Bulldog senior Katie Etelamaki took sixth place in the 3,000 meters (9:58.76).

FUS's Carissa Schurr placed eighth in the 800 meters (2:16.30) with senior Taylor Thrush finishing seventh (2:17.73) in the same race.

In the shot put, the Bulldogs' Brianna Copley was fourth in overall (43-7.25).

Ferris State junior Amanda Eslinger tied for eighth in the high jump (5-1).

FSU was also 12th in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:14.64).

Sophomore Ben Menapace placed fifth in the 400 meters (50.88).

Senior Stanley Williams finished seventh in the long jump (21-3.50).

The Bulldog men's team also came in 11th in the 4x400-meter relay (3:30.97).

Ferris State next returns to action back in Allendale on Feb. 1 at the annual Mike Lints Laker Open hosted by GVSU.
