Arielle Goodson Named To Daktronics Volleyball Midwest Region Team

Senior middle hitter Arielle Goodson (Grand Rapids/Central) of the Ferris State University women's volleyball team has been named to the 2010 Daktronics, Inc. Division II All-Midwest Region Second Team in voting conducted by the region's college sports information directors.

Goodson, a two-time (2009 and 2010) All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) First-Team selection, was among 14 student-athletes to receive All-Midwest Region kudos and was one of seven to earn second-team plaudits. 

The 6-2 Goodson paced Ferris State registered a career season-high 428 kills for the 2010 campaign while averaging 4.04 kills per set and hitting for a career single-season best .296 percentage.  She also recorded 97 total blocks, which included 27 block solos and 70 block assists, to go along with a career-high 30 service aces as a starter in all 27 matches played in this fall.  Goodson, who was a 2008 all-conference second-team performer, accumulated 520 total points for a squad-leading 4.91 points per set in 102 total sets this campaign.  A two-time (Oct. 11 and 25) GLIAC North Division Player of the Week selection, Goodson tallied double-digit kills in 24 matches this season, which included 11 of her last 12 outings.  She also was named to the 2010 GLIAC All-Tournament Team as a result of averaging 2.88 kills per set with a .241 attack percentage and a combined 12 total blocks in two league tourney appearances. 

Among the NCAA-II national statistical leaders through matches of Nov. 21, Goodson presently ranks ninth in points per set (4.91) and is 17th in kills per set (4.04).  

Goodson closed out her distinguished four-year (2007-10) career ranking third among Ferris State's all-time leaders in block solos (108), ninth in total blocks (399), 12th in kills (1,212), 13th in attack percentage (.248), and 15th in block assists (291).  She participated in 116 matches as a Bulldog, which included 431 sets.

Grand Valley State senior Rebeccah Rapin was chosen as the Daktronics Midwest Region Player of the Year as six individuals from a GLIAC-member institution attained all-region recognition.  

Goodson helped lead Ferris State to an 18-10 overall record and a 13-6 mark in the GLIAC's North Division this season.
