Megan Vander Meer Inks With FSU Volleyball

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball program recently secured a commitment from prep standout Megan Vander Meer (Grand Rapids).  The announcement was made by Bulldog head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm.

"Megan is a great athlete with outstanding potential," Brandel-Wilhelm said.  "We are really excited to add her to our program.  Her determined competitiveness will help her become a fantastic Bulldog volleyball player."

Vander Meer, who was home educated, has been a member of the Carpe Diem Volleyball program for nine years.  She has played a variety of positions, including middle hitter, outside hitter, right-side hitter and in the back row.

The 5-8 Vander Meer has an older brother, David Ryan, who plays on the men's volleyball team at Division I Ball State University.  She also has three other siblings, including a twin sister.

Vander Meer is the daughter of David and Michelle Vander Meer and plans to major in pre-veterinary medicine at Ferris State.  Her parents operate and coach in the Carpe Diem program.

Several former Bulldog volleyball players are alumni of the Carpe Diem program, including 2010 All-American Arielle Goodson along with past players such as Katie and Jacque Edwards.

Ferris State wrapped up the 2011 campaign by reaching the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Semifinals and posted a 27-4 overall record.  FSU won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division with an 18-1 conference mark and finished as league co-champions during the 2011 campaign.  The Bulldogs also achieved their highest national ranking in more than 20 years this season.
