FSU Volleyball Advances To GLIAC Semifinals With 3-0 Win Over Michigan Tech

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State women's volleyball advanced to the GLIAC tournament semifinals with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-14) victory over the Michigan Tech Huskies on Wednesday Nov. 18 inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The nationally third ranked Bulldogs posted their sixth consecutive victory overall to move to 29-2, and second this season over the Huskies in 3-0 fashion.

Sophomore outside hitter and reigning GLIAC Player of the Week Ayanna Buckley followed up a strong weekend with 13 kills to pace the Bulldogs, and hit a blistering .571 to lead the team.

Senior outside hitter Alexis Huntey had nine kills, while senior outside hitter Megan Vander Meer had 8.

As a team, the Bulldogs dominated, hitting .323 on the evening to the Huskies .092.

The service stripe was kind to the Bulldogs as they finished with five service aces. Junior outside hitter Kaley Konjarevich had two, while Vander Meer, junior setter Stephanie Sikorski and freshman outside hitter Katie Placek had one apiece.

At the net, Ferris State used their height to muddle the Huskies attack, out-blocking Michigan Tech 7-1 on the day.  Sikorski had a match-high three block assists to go with her match leading 32 assists, while Buckley nabbed two block assists of her own. Vander Meer and sophomore middle hitter Maria Kronner each had one block of their own.

Senior libero Danielle Dowd had a team-high 16 digs, while Vander Meer posted 14.

Lauren Emmert led the Huskies with nine kills, while Mariah Sherman had eight. Rachel Pohlod had 27 assists for Michigan Tech.

The Bulldogs 29th win of the season came in front of a sold-out crowd at Ewigleben Arena. Ferris State has now been undefeated at home in the last two years, with their last home loss coming on Nov. 20, 2013.

With the victory, the Bulldogs will host the GLIAC tournament semifinals this weekend, where they'll face rival Grand Valley State on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. (ET).
