Ferris State Records Decisive Road Victory Over Purdue Northwest

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad rolled to a decisive 3-0 triumph over Purdue Northwest on the road Friday (Oct. 7) night in Hammond, Ind.

The Bulldogs posted the victory by scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-17, moving to 12-7 overall and 9-1 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

Ferris State compiled a .327 hitting figure in the contest and racked up 42 kills with only nine attack errors on 101 attempts.

FSU was paced by Chelsie Freeman with 11 kills while Syann Fairfield added 10 kills. Setter Kaylee Maat finished the night with 34 assists.

Meanwhile, Maat led a balanced effort defensively with 10 digs and Alina Anderson contributed nine digs for FSU. Maat also had a team-high three service aces with Emma Bleecher netting two aces.

The Bulldogs tallied 37 digs with six aces and a block in the contest.

Defensively, the Bulldogs held the Pride to only a .099 hitting figure with Purdue Northwest managing 28 kills and 19 attack errors on 91 attempts. PNW finished with 40 digs, four aces and four block assists to go with a solo block at the net.

Erica Brohm led Purdue Northwest with eight kills and Marina Gronkiewicz posted 10 digs.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 8) as they visit West Michigan rival Grand Valley State for a 2 p.m. (ET) league encounter in Allendale.
