Bulldog Volleyball Notches Rivalry Road Win Over Grand Valley State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad closed out another impressive week of action by beating West Michigan rival Grand Valley State 3-1 on Saturday (Oct. 8) afternoon inside the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena in Allendale.

The Bulldogs dropped the opening frame 25-15, but responded in a big way by taking the next three sets by scores of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-21 to garner the triumph.

With the win, Ferris State is now 13-7 overall and off to a first-place 10-1 start in GLIAC action.

FSU was led by Olivia Henneman-Dallape with 15 kills and Syann Fairfield added nine kills as did Claire Nowicki in the victory.

The Bulldogs totaled 49 kills and 18 attack errors on 154 attempts, hitting .201 overall for the decision.

Ferris State got 23 digs from libero Leah Bylut in addition to 11 from Alina Anderson and 10 by Kaylee Maat, who also finished with 45 assists.

Overall, the Bulldogs compiled 64 digs, 10 block assists, six solo blocks and three aces. Fairfield had four block assists and a solo hit at the net while Chelsie Freeman managed three solo blocks and an assist. Maat added three assisted blocks and led FSU with two service aces.

Grand Valley State finished with a .198 attack percentage, compiling 60 kills and 26 attack errors on 172 attempts. The Lakers posted 71 digs to go with 14 block assists, three solo blocks and three aces.

Ferris State will take part in the Midwet Region Crossover set for Oct. 14-15 in Hammond, Ind. Official matchups will be announced soon by the conference office.
