Ferris State Volleyball To Face Alumni Stars From Past In First Contest At Bulldog Arena This Sunday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University volleyball squad will play its first-ever match inside the new Bulldog Arena this Sunday (March 19) as FSU faces stars from the past in an alumni "Legacy Day" match.

The contest will get underway at 2 p.m. (ET) and admission is free to the event.

The match will represent the first contest for the women's volleyball program in the new facility, which opened late this past fall.

Sunday's match will follow a special grand opening of the Center for Athletics Performance and Bulldog Arena project, which begins at 1 p.m. (ET).

A project intended to fortify Ferris' student-athletes and advance its programs into the future, the Center for Athletics Performance was officially approved in February of 2021 as part of a $15.3 million upgrade to the Bulldogs' Athletic Facilities. The upgrades offer championship-caliber training and conditioning facilities to the nearly 400 Bulldog student-athletes and 17 varsity programs.

The Bulldogs' new Center for Athletics Performance is located in the former Ewigleben Sports Arena, which was the home to Bulldog Volleyball for 41 seasons from 1981 to 2021. FSU compiled an impressive 430-96 overall record in the facility and Bulldog volleyball teams claimed 17 GLIAC Championships along with 25 NCAA Tournament berths during the impressive stretch in the home venue.

Sunday's alumni match represents the first of five spring competition dates for the Bulldogs. FSU is slated to visit Oakland University on March 25, host Saginaw Valley State on March 31, travel to Eastern Michigan on April 1 and compete in a scrimmage tournament at the Dunes Volleyball Club in LaPorte (Ind.) on April 15.
