Ferris State Cross Country Teams Finish Seventh At GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams both came away with identical seventh-place team finishes in the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championships held on Saturday (Oct. 24) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

The Bulldog men tallied 168 total points while the women's squad recorded 184 points as both teams finished in the upper half of the 15-team field in the annual league competition.

On the men's side, the Bulldogs had a pair of all-conference selections as Trevor Holowaty came in 13th overall in a highly-competitive 8K field in a time of 25:00.7. Teammate Logan Hammer also earned All-GLIAC laurels by placing 15th as he was clocked in 25:01.8 on the course.

The top 10 finishers overall claimed All-GLIAC First Team honors with the next 10 finishers receiving second-team recognition.

Along with the two in the top 20, the Bulldogs had three other men's runners finish in the top 51 of nearly 150 participants. Kyle Richardson placed 48th (26:10.6) with Clayton Springer 50th (26:13.0) and Hunter Nivison 51st (26:13.5) of FSU's first five finishers in the league championships.

On the women's side, Ferris State was led by Emily Haynes, who placed 26th in a time of 23:13.3 on the women's 6K course. Behind Haynes for FSU was Racheal McDonald, who finished 34th overall at 23:24.4 in the race.

The Bulldogs' Jessica Delaney placed 43rd (23:38.3) with Samantha Humphrey 46th (23:40.8) overall. Finally, Kristie LeSage rounded out the top five for the Bulldog women by placing 47th (23:41.2) as FSU had five runners finish among the top 50 overall.

Ferris State will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 7, as both teams compete in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships to be held in Evansville, Ind.
