Bulldog Cross Country Squads Run Strong At Nation's Largest Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads hit the course on Saturday (Oct. 1) for one of the nation's largest collegiate cross country meets, taking part in the annual Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.

Ferris State competed in the Blue Division and the field included student-athletes from schools at all levels of competition.

Overall, on the men's side, the Bulldogs placed 16th overall as a team in the 8K event in a large field that included nearly 50 schools and more than 400 total runners.

FSU was paced by senior Donis Harris, who placed 40th overall in a time of 25:04.4 Meanwhile, Noah Griffith came in 66th at 25:23.1 with Brandon Wirth 106th in a time of 25:44.1.

The Bulldogs' Nathan Alford finished 128th (25:54.8) with Daniel Hardesty 130th (25:56.1), Brendan Cairney 131st (25:56.3) and Kevin Wilson 179th (26:17.4) on the leaderboard.

Meanwhile, the Ferris State women placed 11th as a team out of 47 schools in the Blue Division. FSU totaled 440 points in the event.

The Bulldogs were led by Whitney Farrell, who came in 52nd on the 5K course as she clocked 18:44.6 in the event. She was followed by Danae Feldpausch in 66th place (18:52.9) and Melanea Strauss in 79th place (19:01.4).

FSU's Sydney Kubiak took 81st place (19:02.0) with Mara Sweeney 162nd (19:43.4), Daisey Englund 166th (19:45.9) and Diana Candela 217th (20:13.2). The women's field also featured more than 400 total competitors.

Ferris State is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Lewis Conference Crossover held in Romeoville, Ill.
